Movie Review: A Few Good Men (1992)

From 1992, A Few Good Men is understandably considered one of the best movies of Jack Nicholson's stellar career. The movie is about the murder trial of two of Colonel Jessop's Nicholson) marines. Daniel Kaffee (Tom Cruise), Sam Weinberg (Kevin Pollak) and JoAnne Galloway (Demi Moore) are 3 Navy lawyers who are assigned to the defence of the two young marines.

What starts out a straight forward murder trial, becomes much more complicated when a few more facts are brought to the surface. How far would you be willing to go to protect your country? This is the question that gets asked of the viewer and a quality storyline played out with a quality cast means this film gets the big tick of approval from me. The acting is simply first class in this and the scene's between Nicholson's character and Cruise's are intriguing. I think Jack Nicholson is a brilliant antagonist and he shows it in A Few Good Men.

Cruise and Nicholson both stand out in this film but the roles of supporting cast members needs to be mentioned also. Kevin Bacon, Kevin Pollak and Demi Moore are all superb in their roles aswell. One thing that I love in films is when drama and comedy are combined, and while this film is very dramatic, there are plenty of light hearted moments aswell. It really is hard to fault this movie, but I guess there are a couple of scenes which are a bit too corny. But overall I give this film a 9/10 and would recommend it to everyone. It's a must see.
